I believe in America. This country, as complicated as it can be at times, has ideals I can get behind. In the Bay Area where I've lived for over a decade, folks are smart, driven, and open-minded. People have an extra spring in their step. The good weather and the food are beaten only by the opportunities. I've worked with friends who in America have truly gone on to do incredible things.
There are times I miss the Old Country. My family and the pals I had there. The shared history that goes back centuries. The roaring pubs of central London in the evening. The Kentish coast with France just above the horizon.
It was with much relief that King Charles III played his state visit to the USA perfectly. Here's the reaction stateside:
Speaking of which, this feels like a sea change for The Daily Show. By sea, I mean, tone. I think the gloves are off and, perhaps, the gloves are not coming back on for a while.
